Manalapan Yacht Club Officers’ Meeting
April 6, 2024
The Officers met at The Little Club. Commodore Allan Kaulbach presided. In attendance
were VC Jim Schelter, RC’s Sherman Neff and Bill Harsh, and FC Alex Berry. PC
Christine Bucher attended the meeting by telephone.
Treasurer’s Report
RC/Treasurer Neff presented the Treasurer’s report for March. He reported that the club
is in good financial condition with $26,500 in the bank. There was very little activity
during March. Accounts receivable have been reduced to $1,800, of which just $780 is
31 days or older. The club has received initiation fees from three new members.
Golf Tournament
The golf tournament was a success. Some 65 members attended the event, of which
30 played in the tournament.
Royal Palm Yacht and Country Club Dinner
PC Christine Bucher reported that the dinner honoring past PC’s and Honorable Ladies
has an excellent turnout, with 70 reservations to date. Royal Palm has agreed to
implement the new MYC Beverage Policy, which will provide a live test of the policy.
Bartenders will record drinks ordered by MYC members during the cocktail hour and
those drinks will be added to the members’ bills for the event. Wine consumed at dinner
will be provided by the club. Mixed drinks or wine other than the choices offered by the
club ordered at dinner also will be recorded and added to the members’ bills for the
event. The dress code for officers will be white shirt and trousers, blazer, and no tie.
Annual Meeting
Based on reservations at the Ocean Reef Club, Commodore Kaulbach reported that
there has been a strong response and that more than 40 members are planning to
attend the Annual Meeting at the Key Largo Anglers Club. Registration for the event on
the club website has been greatly simplified, with members able to specify their arrival
and departure dates, which club meals and events they will participate in, and meal
choices. This will allow event captains to develop brackets in advance. For the first time,
this year there is an option for members to arrive one day early to participate in activities
provided by the Ocean Reef Club. Members will make reservations for those activities
directly with Ocean Reef. Randy Smalley is sponsoring a golf tournament at Card
Sound on Wednesday. Event captains are VC Schelter for croquet, Commodore
Kaulbach for bocce, RC Harsh for bean toss, PC Shipka for darts, and the entire officer
corps for ladies’ fishing.
McCormick Mile Year-End Party
The event will be held on June 2.
