Manalapan Yacht Club Officers’ Meeting .

The Officers met at The Little Club. Commodore Allan Kaulbach presided. In attendance
were VC Jim Schelter, RC’s Sherman Neff, Alex Berry and Bill Harsh, and PC Mike
McKinney. FC Platt Johnson attended by telephone.
2024-2025 Event Schedule
The Officers discussed options for diversifying the Member experience at the Club’s
events.
The Officers endorsed a suggestion by FC Johnson that, given the Club’s
yachting character, the Club should sponsor an event during the America’s Cup,
which will occur between October 10 and 27, 2024. The Club will need to find a
member willing to sponsor the event and a venue.
The Officers discussed an event during February in lieu of the polo and horse
racing events the Club has sponsored during the past several years and agreed
that a local cruise would be an attractive alternative. RC Berry will investigate
the availability and pricing of chartering the Honey Fitz, President Kennedy’s
yacht. As a backup, RC Harsh will investigate the option of chartering the Palm
Beach Yacht Club’s yacht.
Commodore Kaulbach will verify that Delray Dunes will be available on April 9 as
the venue for the party honoring Honorable Laidies and Past Commodores.
FC Johnson and RC Berry will investigate alternative bands for the Christmas
Party and the party honoring Honorable Ladies and Past Commodores.
The Officers discussed the possibility of hosting a future event at PopStroke in
Delray Beach.
Commodore Kaulbach will solicit further ideas from Members in an upcoming
Blast.
The schedule for 2024-2025 Club Events is:
Clambake – November 7 at the St. Andrews Club
Christmas Party – December 11 at The Little Club
Wine and Wickets – January 11 at The Country Club of Florida
A new event, likely a local cruise, will be scheduled during February (tentatively
2/16/25)
Golf Tournament – March 12 at The Little Club
Party honoring Honorable Ladies and PC’s – April 9 at Delray Dunes
Annual Meeting Key Largo Anglers Club – May 7 (5:30 pm cocktail party) to May 9

Finance Report
RC and Treasurer Neff reported that the Club is in sound financial condition. The Club’s
bank balance as of May 30, 2024 was 22,965.94. Total income YTD through May was
$92,755.25 and total expenses YTD through May were $67,065.02, yielding net income
YTD through May of $25,690.23. All the Club’s bills are paid. Accounts receivable are
$1,793.19, of which just $160.00 are 91 days or older. All but seven members have paid
their invoices for the Annual Meeting.
Corporate Structure
The Officers discussed a question posed by FC Johnson concerning whether it would
be worthwhile to convert the club from a for profit to a not-for-profit corporation. After
discussion the Officers agreed that, given the complexities of changing corporate
structures, “the juice might not be worth the squeeze.”
The Officers discussed a suggestion by FC Johnson that the Club might emphasize its
yachting nature by making a charitable donation to a charitable organization that
promotes yachting. The Officers took the matter under advisement for the present and
agreed that should the Club elect to make such a donation it would require approval of
the Membership.
RC Harsh will follow up with PC Christine Bucher to determine whether she has located
a copy of the Club’s Bylaws in boxes of Club records in her possession. If the Bylaws
cannot be located, then the Officers will draft a simple set of Bylaws.
RC Neff will work with the appropriate authorities to obtain a copy of the Club’s
certificate of incorporation.
Other Matters
RC Secretary Harsh and RC Treasurer Neff will coordinate to send condolences and
charitable contributions in memory of Charles Lea, Mrs. Rankin Peck, and Kathleen
Haley.
The Officers discussed potential candidates for Fleet Captain.
VC Schelter is considering venues for the 2025 Club cruise.
