Manalapan Yacht Club Flag Officers’ MeetingFebruary 1, 2025
The Officers met at The Little Club. Commodore Allan Kaulbach presided. In attendance
were VC Jim Schelter, RCs Sherman Neff, Bill Harsh and Alex Berry, and FC Platt
Johnson.
Treasurer’s Report
The Officers reviewed the financial report for January 2025 submitted by RC/Treasurer
Sherman Neff. He reported that YTD the Club has net income on a cash basis of
$11,991.21. The Club had a loss on a cash basis of $7,180.26 during January due
largely to a loss on the Christmas party. The invoice for the Christmas party was
received in January. The cash balance in the bank on January 31, 2024, was
$17,009.47. Accounts receivable on January 31 totaled $8,722.65. Of that amount
$1,200, consisting of unpaid dues from three Members, was more than 91 days past
due. All these Members have been contacted. Under the Bylaws they may not attend
events until their dues are paid. The Club has filed its tax return for the fiscal year ended
September 30, 2024, and paid income taxes of $635.

Wine and Wickets
The Members’ response to the Wine and Wickets party organized by VC Schelter at
The Country Club of Florida was excellent. The playing conditions and meals were, as
usual, outstanding and the Members appreciated the guidance of the croquet pro in
keeping the event organized and running smoothly.
Upcoming Events
A Day at the Races
The event will be held on Sunday, February 16. The cutoff for registrations is February 11th
RC Berry reported that registrations for the event are running ahead of last year and
that only a few spaces remain on the bus. The event will be similar to previous years.
A buffet luncheon will be served, and drinks will be available for purchase. The Club will
have a named race. The bus to the event for those not wishing to drive will board at the
Walmart parking lot located at 3625 Federal Highway, approximately 1.5 miles south of
Woolbright Avenue.
Other events
Golf Outing
RC Harsh reported that due to a conflicting event at The Little Club the Golf Outing has
been moved to Wednesday, March 19. As in the past, a photograph will be taken at 2
pm and a shotgun start will occur at 2:30 pm. Cocktails will be served at 5 pm with
dinner at 6 pm. Play will be for 18 holes in a scramble format, with a putting contest for
those Members not wishing to participate in the scramble. Foursomes will be seated
together for dinner.
Other upcoming events include the PC/Honorable Ladies Dinner at Delray Dunes on
April 9 and the Annual Meeting at the Key Largo Anglers Club from May 7 to 9. FC
Johnson is working with the General Manager at Delray Dunes to finalize arrangements
for the P/C Honorable Ladies event, and Commodore Kaulbach and RC Neff are
working with the Anglers Club and the Ocean Reef Club to secure accommodations at
the Annual Meeting.
Other Matters
Bylaws. The Bylaws for the Club adopted by the Officers will be posted on the Club
website and a vote to approve the Bylaws will occur at the Annual Meeting.
New Members. The Officers approved the application for membership of Price and
Carolyn Patton. The Pattons are sponsored by Ron Backer.
Next FC. The Officers are considering candidates for election to the office of FC at the
Annual Meeting.
Ship Store. The Officers had an extensive discussion of the Ship’s Store. The Club’s
objective is to make merchandise with the Club logo available to Members without
involving the Club in billing or maintaining inventory. After discussion, the Officers
decided to include a link to the merchant’s website under the Ships Store tab on the
Club website. Members can log onto the merchant’s website, set up an individual
account, and order merchandise directly. Commodore Kaulbach will test this procedure
and if it works as expected he will announce the arrangement to the Members.
Next Meeting. The next Officers’ meeting will be held at 12 noon on March 1 at The
Little Club.
