The Manalapan Yacht Club has a general code often called Casual Elegance. Our premier dress event of the year is the Christmas Party. This was traditionally Black Tie but we found attendance waning under that code. At some date lost in time, the board of directors voted to assume a Dress Code called Black Tie Optional. While it exists it is often misunderstood. So here, straight from Emily Post, is the proper definition of Black Tie Optional.

The officers will be wearing Black Tie. Members are encouraged to wear Black Tie if they have them. After all, when else do you get a chance to dress up like this?
